Vote for a change
To the Editor:
I recently attended the District 36 school board meeting. Several concerned citizens from our community spoke regarding the tax levy that the board was voting on. They also expressed their concern for a town that is suffering due to the economy.
It was very moving to listen to what these gentlemen had to say. One of the men had even gone as far as to figure out that District 36, a one-school district, spends more than $11,000 a student, compared with District 200, a much larger district with several schools, which spends a little more than $7,000 a student. When the board was asked what the huge difference was, they were silent.
