To the Editor:
With the holidays closing in, I wanted to take a moment to thank those who have donated to the United Way of Greater McHenry County this campaign season.
Many people are confused as to what happens to the money that comes to our United Way. Unlike many organizations, most of the money stays right here in McHenry County helping our neighbors.
Last year, United Way money funded 22 partner agency programs that served more than 84,000 McHenry County residents. That means one in every four residents in McHenry County received assistance from United Way-funded programs.
The United Way of Greater McHenry County is very conscious to fund programs that fix problems in our community. Our goal is not to provide temporary fixes. Our goal is to help programs that provide long-term solutions to human service issues. The programs we fund change behavior and make people’s lives better. If we can correct problems and head people in the right direction, we have a positive impact on our community.
The United Way of Greater McHenry County is grateful to hold this role in our community. We are dedicated to funding quality programs that positively impact lives right here in McHenry County. We are appreciative to those who understand our work and support us. We are hopeful that more people will become aware of what we do and decide to join the many donors who have supported us for years.
It is not too late to contribute to this year’s campaign. If you have not given to the United Way of Greater McHenry County, I ask you to carefully consider it this holiday season. Your gift will be put to good use helping your neighbors. No gift is too small. To contribute, please contact our office at 815-363-1377 or visit our website at www.uwmchenry.org.
All the best this holiday season!
