Police ticket seat belt violators in Crystal Lake

CRYSTAL LAKE – Crystal Lake police cited more than 20 motorists Tuesday in a check of seat belt use.

A spotter radioed police stationed at the ComEd building on Route 31, just north of Route 176, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to direct seat belt violators in the parking lot.

“You’ll see cars weaving [while they’re putting on their seat belt] as they get pulled over,” Staff Sgt. Dan Hulata said. “Sometimes they’ll pull over and still won’t be wearing a seat belt.”
