EVANSTON – Dave Sobolewski scored 18 points, including a 3-pointer with 1:45 left to give Northwestern the lead for good, and the Wildcats closed the game on a 12-0 run to defeat Texas State, 74-68, on Monday night.

Hearn finished with 15 points.

Joel Wright and Wesley Davis each had 19 points for Texas State (4-7).

The Wildcats (8-3) played their first game without senior forward Drew Crawford, who will miss the remainder of the season with a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

No. 22 Notre Dame 74, IPFW 62: At South Bend, Ind., Pat Connaughton scored 18 points to lead Notre Dame (10-1) past IPFW (5-7).

Luis Jacobo and Joe Edwards both scored 11 points for the Mastodons.

S. Illinois 74, New Orleans 61: At Carbondale, Dantiel Daniels scored 20 points, and Southern Illinois defeated New Orleans.

Anthony Beane Jr. had 17 points, Jalen Pendleton scored 14 and Jeff Early had 12 points for the Salukis (6-2).

Lovell Cook led the Privateers (3-6) with 22 points.

Bradley 62, Georgia Southern 43: At Peoria, Tyshon Pickett scored 17 points and pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds, and Bradley (7-2) rode a pair of scoring runs to a victory over Georgia Southern (4-6) in the opening round of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic.

Will Egolf added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Braves, who matched their win total from the entire 2011-12 season, when they were 7-25.

SIU-Edwardsville 77, Eureka 74: At Edwardsville, Jerome Jones scored 23 points to help Southern Illinois-Edwardsville (3-6) beat Division III Eureka (3-6).

Michael Messer’s layup with 53 seconds to play put the Cougars in front to stay at 73-72. Jones made four free throws to complete the scoring.
