Free tow service on New Year's Eve

CARY – Three towing companies will be offering free tow service during New Year's Eve celebrations.

Pat Blank of Whitey’s Towing, Dennis Stoner of D&L Midwest Towing and Ken McCoy of A+ Towing have all agreed to provide a free ride home and a free tow for the driver’s vehicle if they’ve had too much to drink to drive, the village said in a news release.

All three companies will provide the free service to anyone from within the village limits to their home, within a 5-mile radius. The free service will be provided from 10 p.m. Dec. 31 to 4 a.m. Jan. 1.

This is the second year the police department has partnered with tow companies to promote free tows on New Year's Eve.

Last year, 12 people took advantage of the free tows, said Chief Steven Casstevens.

“This is a great service that these companies are providing, helping to keep our residents as well as our roadways safe,” Casstevens said. "While we continue to encourage people to have a designated driver, this program goes one step further."

A+ Towing can be contacted at 847-639-2655, D&L Towing can be contacted at 847-639-1764, and Whitey’s Towing can be contacted at 847-639-2750.
