Suburban mail carrier gets prison for thefts

CHICAGO — A former mail carrier in suburban Chicago has been sentenced to 2˝ years in federal prison for stealing mail containing more than $275,000 in charitable donations.

U.S. District Judge Amy J. St. Eve sentenced 41-year-old Frederick Taylor of Chicago on Tuesday.

Taylor pleaded guilty in August to possessing stolen mail. He admitted then he had more than 29,000 donation envelopes at his home.
