To the Editor:

As a District 47 board member, I have received many calls and emails from our community regarding recent tragic events in Connecticut. It is very comforting to know, as we all try to make sense of this heinous act of violence, that we live in such a close-knit, caring community.

I received one email from a community leader wanting to help our district “initiate change to protect our children.” My advice to anyone who wants to do something to protect the children in our community in the wake of this tragedy is to purchase, in honorarium, a gift, clothing or food, for a child or a family in need in our community.
