Another Crundwell auction brings in $19,000
DIXON – More of Rita Crundwell's belongings have sold at auction, this time bringing in more than $19,000.
The Telegraph in Dixon reported that the items sold Wednesday night. Crundwell pleaded guilty last month to stealing more than $53 million over two decades in her job as former Dixon comptroller. Prosecutors say she used the money to fund a lavish lifestyle and horse farm. Crundwell is set to be sentenced in February.
The most expensive item in the latest auction was a hand-crafted saddle that went for $6,100. U.S. Marshals are liquidating her belongings and so far have brought in about $7.4 million. The 59-year-old Crundwell must pay restitution as part of her plea agreement with federal officials.
