Girl says man tried to abduct her in Harvard

HARVARD – Police are investigating an attempted child abduction Wednesday afternoon in the 500 block of McKinley Street.

Police arrived at 3:48 p.m. An 11-year-old girl reported that a man wearing sunglasses drove up next to her in a dark-colored vehicle with tinted windows and said something to the effect of “if you don’t get in the car I will hurt you,” police said in a news release.

Harvard police officers were nearby on an unrelated call, and the girl said the man drove away when he saw their squad cars.

The man was described as black, in his 20s, with black hair, brown eyes and a butterfly-type tattoo on his neck.

A search of the neighborhood did not find him.
