Officials: Huntley gun rumor 'non-credible'

HUNTLEY – Huntley High School will have an increased police presence during school Friday after officials learned about a rumored “non-credible” gun threat, according to the district’s website.

Superintendent John Burkey and Principal Dave Johnson wrote Wednesday evening that the administration and Huntley police have been thoroughly investigating the rumor of a gun being brought to the school Friday.

As a precaution, the school will have an increased police presence.

Officials speculated that the rumor surfaced because of the Connecticut shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The investigation so far, the officials wrote, has found this rumor to be a “non-credible” threat.
