D-300 to explore dual language

CARPENTERSVILLE – Parents with a a child who will enroll in kindergarten in the 2013-14 school year and are interested in learning about the District 300 Dual Language program should attend one of two informational sessions.

The meetings will run from 9 to 10 a.m. Jan. 16 and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at Liberty Elementary School, 6500 Miller Road, Carpentersville.

Registrations will be taken during the sessions.

A Dual Language Program is an enriched form of education. The program is open both to English and Spanish speakers.

The goal of this researched-based, two-way language initiative is to develop a high level of achievement in listening, speaking, reading and writing in two languages for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

The program strives to promote bilingualism and bi-literacy while promoting positive attitudes, knowledge and appreciation of other cultures and their languages.

Although the program is open to all District 300 families, transportation is provided only to students whose attendance zone is Liberty Elementary School.

For information about the meetings, call Liberty Elementary School at 224-484-4800 or call the District 300 Central Office at 847-551-8324.
