Cook County arrests 108 in retail theft sting

CHICAGO – Cook County authorities say they arrested more than 100 people they said were ripping off stores at several Chicago-area shopping malls.

In a news release, State's Attorney Anita Alvarez announced the results of what was dubbed "Operation Whoville," a reference to the Dr. Seuss story "How The Grinch Stole Christmas."

Alvarez says undercover sting operations conducted by various law enforcement agencies over the past month resulted in 108 arrests.
