Resources available to Illinois veterans with PTSD

SPRINGFIELD (AP) — The Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs is reminding those who've served in the military that free resources are available to help with post-traumatic stress disorder or other challenges associated with returning from combat.

The department notes that the holidays can be an especially difficult time for veterans struggling to cope with their experiences.

Department Director Erica Borggren says "it is important for veterans to understand that seeking help for symptoms of PTSD is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength."
