Sites offer Christmas tree recycling

By NORTHWEST HERALD

WOODSTOCK – As residents “undeck the halls” this year, they are encouraged to do something good for the environment and recycle their Christmas trees.

Now through Jan. 15, three drop-off locations are available that will help keep holiday trees out of the landfills.

Trees are processed into mulch, and mulch will be available free of charge at a later date.

The drop-off locations will be at Glacial Park in Ringwood (off Harts Road parking lot); at Rush Creek in Harvard (at twin oaks parking area – west of pond); and at the Algonquin Township headquarters in Cary.

Tinsel and decorations must be removed.

If trees are transported in a bag, they should be removed from the bag. No commercial drop-offs will be accepted. For details, call 815-␚338-6223.

The recycling effort is sponsored by the Sustainability Committee of McHenry County Conservation District. By NORTHWEST HERALD
