Share the road?
To the Editor:
The new construction on Rakow Road is certainly a great improvement in terms of travel times and safety for motorists. I am amazed that Crystal Lake’s answer to bicycle safety is to post signs on this 45 mph, six-lane highway without shoulders, reminding drivers to “share the road” with bicyclists. I am dismayed that a bike path was not built during this massive construction project parallel to Rakow Road linking southwest Crystal Lake to the north/south bike trails through town, including linking to Three Oaks recreation area. It appears there is a general lack of a comprehensive bike path plan.
Additionally, installing a loop walking path around the Three Oaks Lakes would greatly enhance recreation for all Crystal Lake residents and visitors.
