Repeat DUI offender sentenced to 8 years in prison

JOLIET, Ill. — A northern Illinois man who served a seven-year term for a drunken driving accident that killed a young girl is heading back to prison.

The Will County State's Attorney's Office says 34-year-old Glen Higginbotham of Yorkville was sentenced Monday to eight years in prison for more DUI offenses.

Higginbotham's previous prison stint stemmed from a reckless homicide conviction in a 1999 crash that killed a 10-year-old girl. Authorities say his blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit when he smashed into the car in which the girl was riding.
