Same standards
To the Editor:
Federal, state, and local employees and elected officials should have to abide by the same laws that the rest of us do. What would the Illinois state pension programs look like if they had been held to the same standards and requirements as the Employment Retirement Income Security Act, passed in 1974, and the Pension Protection Act of 2006?
I suggest we wouldn’t have a $96 billion unfunded liability. If it’s good enough for the public, it should be good enough for “public servants.”
