Hultgren appointed to Science Committee for 113th Congress

U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren issued the following news release on Monday:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Randy Hultgren (IL-14) has learned that he has been appointed to the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology for the 113th Congress. Hultgren also served on the committee during the 112th Congress.

“I’m truly thrilled to be named to the Science Committee again,” said Hultgren. “We made great progress in the 112th Congress getting to know stakeholders in the research community and promoting the importance of federal investment in national labs like Fermi and Argonne, and I look forward to continuing that work.”

Hultgren was named a Champion of Science for his previous work on the Committee by the Science Coalition in October.

Fermilab Director Pier Oddone said, "Representative Hultgren has quickly become the champion of science in the House of Representatives. The country needs such champions!"

Hultgren also founded the bipartisan House Science & National Labs Caucus in December. The group’s stated purpose is to reinforce federal investment in research and the national laboratories.

Hultgren was also appointed to serve on the House Committee on Financial Services for the 113th Congress. In the 112th Congress, he served on the Agriculture and Transportation & Infrastructure Committees.
