McHENRY – The McHenry Department of Parks and Recreation is conducting a naming contest for the new community dog park that will be opening this year.

Names can be submitted on the city of McHenry website at www.ci.mchenry.il.us or by mail to the City of McHenry – Dog Park Naming Contest – 333 S. Green St., McHenry, IL 60050.

The deadline for entries is 5 p.m. Feb. 18. The winning name will be announced in March.

Residents also will be able to submit entries at the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce Expo, which will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 16 at McHenry West High School.

The winner will receive a one-year pass to the dog park. Recognition also will be given in the city newsletter and at the park’s grand opening.

The new dog park facility is north of the Kohl’s store on Route 31. The opening date will be announced this spring.
