TLC to host tree identification workshop

WOODSTOCK – Join The Land Conservancy’s ecologist, Melissa Hormann, from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday for a Winter Tree Identification Workshop at Hennen Conservation Area, 4622 Dean St., Woodstock.

Students will learn how to identify trees based on their twigs and bark. The first hour of the class will take place inside looking at a variety of twig samples. The next two hours will be spent walking the hiking trails and gaining hands-on experience.

Hennen Conservation Area is a Woodstock city park that The Land Conservancy of McHenry County manages. There are 3 miles of trails, and a wide diversity of native hardwood trees that will give students exposure to a diversity of tree species.
