MCC to observe Martin Luther King Jr. Week

CRYSTAL LAKE – McHenry County College will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday with activities in honor of King’s legacy of tolerance, peace and equality Monday through Jan. 25.

The MCC African American History Month Committee, along with MCC students, will hold a collection drive beginning Monday on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and continuing through Jan. 24. Students and staff will collect gently used clothing, shoes, boots, jewelry and small household goods to benefit Annie’s Resale for the World in Rolling Meadows. The shop assists and supports the extreme poor in seven countries around the world.

A collection box will be outside of the MCC Student Life Office, Room A252, from Monday through Jan. 24. Community members also are welcome to drop off donations.
