To the Editor:

I am a Boy Scout from a troop in Woodstock, and I am working on my communications merit badge. And one of the requirements is to write a letter to an editor of a newspaper and share my opinion on an important topic.

My opinion is on the amount of shootings last year. There were 16 mass shootings in 2012. That’s way too many. The worst one was the Newtown, Conn., shooting. In that shooting, 26 people (children and teachers) died. That should not have happened. Too many people are killing others, and that should stop.
