Franks and term limits
To the Editor:
If Rep. Jack Franks is a supporter of term limits, then why does he not have a term-limit bill or is not a sponsor of the only term-limit bill.
I sent Rep. Franks and Rep. Joe Sosnowski an email about the term-limit issue. Rep. Sosnowski responded before Rep. Franks. A representative from another district responded quicker than the one who represents the district I am in. Unacceptable.
Why does Rep. Franks not state emphatically that he is a supporter of term limits. Speaker Michael Madigan has been speaker for more than 30 years. He has served his time as speaker, and it’s now time to nominate and elect a new speaker. In his six terms, he has not nominated a candidate for speaker. See ilga.gov/House/Journals.
State Sen. Dan Duffy held a Springfield 101 meeting last September. He told how his parking space was reassigned after stating his opinion about how shameful Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s actions were. Is Rep. Franks afraid to have his parking space reassigned if he speaks out against Madigan? Or not having his bills put to committee? The speaker’s job is to bring bills to a vote. Representatives’ opinion of the speaker should have no bearing on the bill being called for a vote.
