General manager Phil Emery and the Chicago Bears introduced Marc Trestman as the team's head coach at a press conference Thursday at Halas Hall.

Emery opened the conference discussing the team's process in finding a new head coach. He spoke about the three finalists for the job: Trestman, Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians and Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.

Emery said the decision ultimately came down to Trestman and Arians, because both of them had experience as a head coach. Arians was the interim head coach for 12 games this season after head coach Chuck Pagano was diagnosed with leukemia.

After interviewing the finalists, Emery said he had a "lengthy discussion" with chairman George McCaskey and team president Ted Phillips, but that it was his decision to make.

Emery said that he felt a connection with Trestman because of what he had to do to get to where he is now.

"I know what it's like to take small steps towards achieving goals," he said. "So there was a connection there."
