Wolves player to visit CL library

CRYSTAL LAKE – Chicago Wolves defenseman Mark Matheson will be at the Crystal Lake Public Library on Monday as part of the 18th season of the “Read to Succeed” program.

Matheson, who is a University of Massachusetts-Amherst graduate, will start his program at 7 p.m. at the library, 126 Paddock St.

“Read to Succeed” teaches the importance of recreational reading and encourages children to use the library’s resources.

Matheson will speak about the benefits of reading outside of the classroom and discuss how it plays an important part in his life as a professional athlete.

Children can win prizes – including Wolves hats, pennants and tickets to games – for setting and achieving reading goals.
