LAKE FOREST – New head coach Marc Trestman had hoped that Rod Marinelli would return to the Bears as defensive coordinator for the 2013 season.

Instead, Marinelli decided that it was time for a fresh start.

The Bears now must seek a replacement at defensive coordinator along with several other coaching positions. Seven assistant coaches were dismissed Thursday, including ex-offensive coordinator Mike Tice, quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates, linebackers coach Bob Babich, tight ends coach Mike DeBord, wide receivers coach Darryl Drake, offensive line coach Tim Holt and running backs coach Tim Spencer.
