Autopsy confirms no foul play in Woodstock man’s death

WOODSTOCK – Preliminary autopsy findings Tuesday confirmed no foul play in the death of a 70-year-old man found outside near his Woodstock home this week, the McHenry County Coroner’s Office said.

John J. McManus, of 128 S. Hayward St., died as a result of acute coronary thrombosis –  blockage of a coronary artery by a blood clot, McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski said. There also was evidence of previous heart damage from coronary atherosclerosis.

Woodstock police were called to the area where Calhoun Street ends at Hayward Street for a report of a man who was unresponsive on the ground about 7:15 a.m. Monday.
