Police investigate arson in Island Lake

ISLAND LAKE – A road flare started a fire in Island Lake on Thursday that heavily damaged a tow truck, according to the Island Lake Police Department.

Authorities were called to Xalapa Service near Sharp Auto Body in the 200 block of West State Road at around 11 p.m. Thursday for a report of a vehicle on fire, according to a news release. Crews arrived to find the cab of a tow truck on fire.

Officers later found a burning road flare inside the vehicle, police said. The damage was estimated at between $15,000 and $20,000.
