Annual count of homeless starts today

McHENRY – The McHenry County Continuum of Care for the Homeless Committee, consisting of representatives from agencies, organizations and businesses that work together to fight homelessness in McHenry County, is organizing its 12th annual count of homeless individuals and families. It will be conducted from Wednesday to Thursday.

This “point-in-time” survey has been done in the last 10 days in January for the past nine years. The 2012 count found 210 homeless people in McHenry County.

The 2013 McHenry County homeless count will be conducted through surveys at shelters and through information from other locations homeless people may access for services or to stay out of the elements.
