To the Editor:

Celebrate? In regard to the two full pages of paid advertisement in last Sunday’s Northwest Herald by the McHenry County Citizens for Choice advocacy group. The banner headline stated, and I quote, “McHenry County Citizens for Choice Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade.” I was struck and saddened by the use of the word “celebrate.”

We gather to celebrate happy or fun events such as birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, holidays, weddings and even sporting events. We even try to celebrate the life of a friend or loved one after they have passed away.
