Kennedy gets 5th term as UofI trustee chairman
CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago businessman Christopher Kennedy has been elected to a fifth term as chairman of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees.
The board re-elected Kennedy on Thursday during a meeting in Chicago. The board also welcomed new trustee and former top Chicago federal prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald. Gov. Pat Quinn appointed Fitzgerald to a six-year term.
Kennedy has been chairman of the board since 2009. The board is in charge of the University of Illinois campuses in Urbana-Champaign, Chicago and Springfield. That includes more than 77,000 students, 24,000 faculty and staff, and a more than $5 billion annual budget.
