WAUCONDA – Firefighters on Thursday night rescued an ATV rider who fell through the ice on Bangs Lake, according to the Wauconda Fire District.
Crews were called to the lake about 10:15 p.m. and found a man and his ATV in the icy water about a half-mile from shore, a news release said. The man was clinging to an ATV tire.
Four rescuers wearing cold-water immersion suits walked onto the ice and pulled the man from the water, using with an inflatable raft, the release said.
The 30-year-old man was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington for treatement of exposure.
