Pizza parlor burns in C’ville

CARPENTERSVILLE – A kitchen fire broke out at a Carpentersville pizza parlor Thursday morning just as the restaurant was getting ready to open, a fire official said.

The Carpentersville Fire Department arrived at Taylor Street Pizza, 7000 Huntley Road, about 9:45 a.m. to find smoke coming from the front and back of the building, Battalion Chief Kieran Stout said. Sprinklers kept the fire in check and firefighters were able to put out the fire in about 10 minutes, he said.

No injuries were reported. Damage to the building – mostly the kitchen – and contents is estimated at $80,000, Stout said. The fire’s cause is under investigation, but at this point is not considered suspicious, he said.
