Absurd allegations

To the Editor:

Recently, the Northwest Herald has published several letters making the absurd allegation that the government is trying to take away our guns. The real issue is not about my rifles and pistols, but about a class of weapons not needed for hunting or personal protection.

According to George Cascon in Politico.com, there have been 22 mass shootings between 1984 and 2011. In every instance, the killer used a clip containing more than 10 bullets. The result was a total of 225 murders and 242 wounded. Often, the murders were only stopped when the shooter tried to reload.
