CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago is sending a business mission to Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai.

Former White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley and World Business Chicago Vice Chairman Michael Sacks leave Sunday.

They will meet with business and government leaders in an effort to lure investment and jobs to Chicago and strengthen the city's ties with China.

Daley also served as Commerce Secretary under former President Bill Clinton, and in that role he supported China's entry into the World Trade Organization.

Daley says such missions are essential to making Chicago a top choice for global companies shopping around for locations for their North American headquarters.

According to the Chicago Customs District, China is the Chicago area's largest global trading partner with $41.8 billion in imports and $4.1 billion in exports in 2011.
