Tigers claim state title
BLOOMINGTON — The Crystal Lake Central girls competitive dance team accomplished something special Saturday afternoon that no other squad has done before.
The Tigers won the Class 2A State Dance Championship with a final score of 90.33 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington. The Tigers edged out Lake Forest (89.88) by just .45 of a point.
It is particularly important because this year marked the first time that the Illinois High School Association has recognized competitive dance as a sport. It was previously pegged as an activity in past years.
