Driver in ATV accident charged with DUI
WAUCONDA – An ATV rider pulled from Bangs Lake on Thursday night was drunk when he fell through the ice, according to a news release.
Jonathan D. Hoch, 30, 28085 N. Hickory Lane, Wauconda, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and pollution of waterway, according to a news release from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources' law enforcement office.
Hoch was clinging to an ATV tire when firefighters responded, according to a Wauconda Fire District news release issued after the rescue. Four rescuers wearing cold-water immersion suits walked onto the ice and pulled Hoch from the water.
