Ordering to begin for food programs

McHENRY – The McHenry County SHARE and Loaves & Fishes food programs will take orders Friday and Saturday for delivery Feb. 23.

McHenry County SHARE is a nonprofit food-buying club that offers good, nutritious food at reduced prices through an all-volunteer distribution system. The savings are 25 percent to 35 percent of grocery store prices.

Locally, participants can place orders from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the McHenry Township Senior Center, 3519 N. Richmond Road, Johnsburg, or from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Evangelical Free Church of McHenry, 2614 N. Ringwood Road, McHenry.

Orders also can be placed at 855-832-7238 or online at www.midamericafoods.com no later than Feb. 17.

All are welcome to participate. There are no income guidelines, membership fees or eligibility requirements.

Businesses and individuals are encouraged to sponsor a deserving family each month for about $1 a day.

The program accepts cash, checks locally and credit and debit cards online.

Delivery will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Feb. 23 at Evangelical Free Church of McHenry, 2614 N. Ringwood Road, McHenry, and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at The Pointe, 5650 Northwest Highway, Crystal Lake.
