PORT BARRINGTON – A man riding a snowmobile on the Fox River sustained injuries after the snowmobile flipped over Sunday afternoon.

He was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, where he remained in good condition, said Commander Bill Hoover of the Wauconda Fire Department.

The accident happened about 4:30 p.m. Sunday by the Broken Oar Marina Bar and Grill, 614 Rawson Bridge Road in Port Barrington.

The man, who was not wearing a helmet, was taking the snowmobile for a test ride on the Fox River, Hoover said.

“As he went toward the river, he accelerated too fast and flipped the snowmobile over,” he said.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the rescue.
