Rockford air traffic reaches pre-recession levels

ROCKFORD, Ill. — Officials at the Chicago Rockford International Airport say passenger traffic last year returned to pre-recession levels.

The Rockford airport says more than 210,000 people flew in and out of the facility last year. That's up 10 percent from the almost 191,000 passengers who used the airport in 2011. It was the second busiest year in the airport's history.

Airport Director Mike Dunn says traffic dropped some in December when the airport lost service to Fort Myers, Fla. But he says that service should return in February.
