Spring Grove to spur development
SPRING GROVE – In the past four years, 10 homes have been built in Spring Grove, a village that averaged between 70 and 100 new homes a year before the housing market crash, village President Mark Eisenberg said.
He said he wants to know what the village can do to get things moving again.
Eisenberg has invited developers to the Village Board meeting Tuesday to brainstorm. The meeting is at 6 p.m. at the Spring Grove Village Hall, 7401 Meyer Road.
Things are getting “desperate,” he said, adding that the village’s cash flow is decreasing. “Spring Grove is still in a recession as far as the village is concerned.”
The board has been tossing around ideas, including waiving impact fees for a period of time and cutting the minimum lot size to three-fourths of an acre.
Eisenberg also said he wants to know whether the village’s building requirements are too stringent.
