CHICAGO — Tuesday is the last day to register if residents in Illinois' 2nd District want to vote in the primary to pick a candidate for the congressional seat formerly held by Jesse Jackson Jr.
Cook County Clerk David Orr says Cook County residents who haven't registered have until Tuesday if they want to vote in the Feb. 26 special primary election. Orr says voters who have moved or changed their names also must register again before the deadline.
Jackson resigned in November, citing health problems and acknowledging he's under investigation. The Chicago Democrat gained the 2nd District seat in 1995.
The February primary will determine which Democratic and Republican candidates will be on the April ballot.
