CRYSTAL LAKE – The American Cancer Society Relay for Life for Crystal Lake/Cary will host its annual kickoff from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Nick’s Pizza and Pub, 856 Pyott Road.

Friends, neighbors, cancer survivors, caregivers and anyone interested in learning more about Relay for Life are encouraged to attend.

The kickoff offers information about the American Cancer Society’s mission of saving lives by helping people stay well, helping people get well and finding cures.

Fifteen percent of the food bought during the event benefits Relay for Life of Crystal Lake/Cary, and guests will have the opportunity to win prizes and learn more about activities planned for this year’s Relay for Life.

Relay for Life is an overnight event in which teams of local businesses, schools, churches, community groups and families build awareness and raise funds – before and at the event – to fight cancer. This year’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Crystal Lake/Cary will be June 7 at McHenry County College.

Volunteers are needed to organize and recruit teams, secure community support, coordinate logistics, obtain refreshments and prizes, assist with publicity and plan entertainment activities.

For information, call the American Cancer Society at 630-879-9009 or visit relayforlife.org/crystallakecaryil.

Teams may register online anytime.
