The Literacy Connection to present movie

ELGIN – The Literacy Connection will show “Stanley and Iris,” a drama of illiteracy in America, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin.

Popcorn will be provided during the showing, which will be in Meeting Room 1 on the second floor of the library.

The 1990 film is the story of two people who, realizing their shared fears and frustrations, find the courage to help each other learn, live and love again. The film stars two-time Academy Award winners Jane Fonda and Robert DeNiro.

Established in 1984, The Literacy Connection is a community-based affiliate of ProLiteracy. Trained volunteers provide free, accessible and customized one-on-one tutoring.

The Literacy Connection’s mission is to help adults reach their literacy goals, serving learners in 16 northwest suburban Chicago communities, including Algonquin, Carpentersville, Cary, East Dundee, West Dundee, Hampshire, Huntley and Lake in the Hills.
