Chicago gang, drug takedown nets 43 arrests
CHICAGO – Police have arrested 43 suspected gang members and seized $23,000 worth of illegal drugs in a citywide gang takedown.
In a press release Saturday, Chicago police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said the arrests followed investigations into gang-controlled drug markets.
McCarthy says gang and drug activity are the "root cause" of violence affecting too many of the city's neighborhoods.
