Details emerge about fatal fire in Huntley
HUNTLEY – The Huntley man who died Sunday morning in a two-alarm fire that started in his Woodcreek Apartment unit had been confined to a wheelchair for most of his adult life, fire officials said.
Allen R. Jacobs, 47, had lost the use of his legs because of a car accident that happened more than 15 years ago, said Ken Caudle, fire chief for the Huntley Fire Protection District.
The blaze started shortly before 6:15 a.m. Sunday, inside Jacobs' first-floor apartment before rising to the second and third floors of a six-unit building at Woodcreek Apartments, 11700 Woodcreek Ave.
