Huntley fire kills one, displaces 12 others

Fire ripped through a Huntley apartment complex Sunday morning, killing one and displacing 12 others.

Allen R. Jacobs, 47, who lived in the Woodcreek Apartments at 11702 Woodcreek Drive, was pronounced dead, according to the McHenry County Coroner's Office.

Firefighters were called to the blaze about 6:15 a.m. Sunday. Heavy smoke and flames were coming from a first-floor apartment, and soon spread to two other units, according to the Huntley Fire Protection District.

Firefighters from 15 area departments responded to the two-alarm fire.

A Huntley firefighter suffered a minor injury and was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated in released.

The Huntley Fire Protection District and Illinois State Fire Marshall are investigating the fire, though it is not believed to be suspicious.
