CHICAGO – Attorneys for a Chicago man convicted of placing what he thought was a bomb near Wrigley Field have disclosed FBI notes that indicate agents feared an informant might entrap the suspect during their investigation.

Sami Samir Hassoun faces a prison sentence of up to 30 years at his April sentencing. The notes were released in a defense filing in U.S. District Court in Chicago.

The agents write that they warned the informant he either did or was "close to committing entrapment." Investigators are barred from inducing someone to commit crimes they otherwise wouldn't comment.
