Newlywed registry for home down payment

Engaged couples and newlyweds have a new option to make their dream of home ownership a reality. StartingPoint Realty, an agency dedicated to first-time home buyers, has launched StartingTogether Registry to help couples build their savings for a down payment.

StartingTogether is an easy, convenient way for couples to have their wedding guests contribute to a down payment toward their future new home. The gift money is deposited directly into an account set up by the couple at a bank of their choosing. Couples can either provide their guest list to StartingPoint, which will then send the registry card with information on how to contribute, or, they can enclose the registry card within shower or wedding invitations.

Participating couples who choose to use StartingPoint Realty as their real estate agency also will receive a gift from StartingPoint. The agency will contribute $250 to couples putting down up to $5,000 at closing; $500 for those putting down $5,001 up to $10,000 and $750 for anything over $10,000.

“Gift registries have shifted away from traditional department and house wares stores,” said Ryan Gable, founder rand CEO, StartingPoint. "We’re helping couples with what is often the hardest part of buying a home – specifically, the down payment.”
