CRYSTAL LAKE – The Breakers Restaurant in Crystal Lake is temporarily closed after a vehicle crashed into the kitchen Sunday morning, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to the restaurant located at 7728 Route 14 at around 7 a.m. for a report of a vehicle striking the building.

Investigators later determined that the driver was heading west on Route 14 when he became distracted by something he dropped on the floor, police said. He then veered off the roadway and struck the building, putting a hole in the wall of the kitchen area.
